Job summary

UPMC seeks a Patient Services Representative to warmly greet patients, guide them through check-in, collect copays, and verify registrations and insurance. You will schedule follow-ups, connect patients to financial resources, and assist with MyUPMC portal registration for a smooth care experience across campuses.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong customer service, and computer proficiency; healthcare office experience and familiarity with Epic or similar systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in medical, billing, fiscal or customer service preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with health records systems (Epic or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patients through self-arrival technology or desk check-in.
• Collect copayments and other payments at the point of service.
• Confirm and update patient registration information at checkout.
• Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
• Connect patients to resources for ancillary services at checkout.
• Help patients navigate the healthcare system with clear instructions.
• Follow up on unresolved questions to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist registration.
• Verify insurance benefits with carriers via online or calls.
• Obtain signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility.
• Distribute/triage calls and assist with administrative duties.
