Job description

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. The role requires maintaining accurate documentation, preparing patient records, and clearly explaining appointment expectations to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone
  • Perform patient registration in various systems
  • Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Collect patient payments for time‑of‑service responsibilities
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization as needed
  • Perform preliminary patient screening, including medical history, prior to procedures
  • Transport patients to and from the exam room and assist with patient transfer on/off the exam table
  • Provide patients with preliminary and post‑procedure instructions
  • Assist in preparing the mobile unit for transport and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked
  • Ensure accurate patient records in electronic and written documents
  • Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification/authorization
  • Prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers
  • Assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations in all duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology employees must obtain CPR Certification prior to hire; a CPR Certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology
  • Valid state driver’s license required; ability to work at several locations required
  • Strong customer service, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites
  • COVID-19 vaccination is, or may be, a condition of employment
  • All candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • Preferred: six months of customer service or related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients on a mobile unit
  • May be exposed to a strong magnetic field or radioactive material
  • May be exposed to blood/body fluids, infectious disease, and environmental hazards such as noise and travel
  • More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, and see, speak and hear to communicate with patients
  • Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl, climb and balance, carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam)
