Job description

Responsibilities

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. They ensure documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Performs patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collects monies for time‑of‑service patient responsibility.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
  • Preliminary screen patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
  • Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists with transfer on/off the exam table.
  • Provides preliminary and post‑procedure instructions to patients.
  • In the mobile setting, assists in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked.
  • Ensures accuracy of patient records and schedules patient appointments.
  • Assists the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to patients, physicians or contracted customers.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
  • For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
  • COVID‑19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
  • All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit.
  • May be exposed to a strong magnetic field or radioactive material.
  • May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease and environmental hazards such as exposure to noise, and travel.
  • More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.
  • Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
