The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

This position requires commuting to Santa Rosa and Ukiah.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Performs patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.

Patient Assistance:

  • May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
  • May transport patients to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.

Work Area & Supply Preparation:

  • In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.

Documentation:

  • Ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • Prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems and on written documents.
  • Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  • Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology.
  • CPR Certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver's license required, as applicable.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Preferred:

  • Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

May be exposed to outside weather conditions, magnetic fields, radioactive materials, blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, noise, and travel.

More than 50% of the time:

  • Sit, stand, walk.
  • Repetitive movements.
  • Communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

  • Stoop, kneel, crawl.
  • Climb, balance.
  • Move non-ambulatory patients.
