The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

This position requires commuting to Santa Rosa and Ukiah.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
  2. Performs patient registration in various systems.
  3. Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  4. May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  5. May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.

Patient Assistance:

  1. May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
  2. May transport patients to/from the exam room.
  3. May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  4. May provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.

Work Area & Supply Preparation

  1. In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  3. Order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.

Documentation

  1. Ensure accuracy of patient records.
  2. Schedule patient appointments and verify insurance and/or obtain authorization.
  3. Prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  4. Ensure accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems and written documents.
  5. Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  6. Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. CPR certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; plus for Fixed Radiology, CPR is a plus.
  3. Valid state driver's license required, as applicable.
  4. Ability to work at multiple locations.
  5. Strong customer service, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  6. Basic computer knowledge.
  7. Local travel may be required.
  8. COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  9. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Preferred:

  1. Six months of customer service or related experience.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  3. Bilingual in Spanish (a plus).

Physical Requirements:

May be exposed to weather, magnetic fields, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, infectious diseases, noise, and travel.

More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive movements, communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, carry, and lift.
