The Patient Safety Companion reports to the Staffing Office and Hospital Supervisors to obtain unit assignments. Under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Safety Companion monitors patients closely at all times, never leaving them alone to ensure safety. This role assists patients with activities of daily living and performs other general patient care duties as directed by the Registered Nurse. The Patient Safety Companion immediately notifies the Registered Nurse of any patient concerns. When not functioning as a Patient Safety Companion, this role provides clerical support for the nurse’s station as assigned.
Education: High School Degree or Equivalent
Work Experience: 0-6 months
State licensure and/or professional certification requirements depend on the position.
