Job description

Charleston County Environmental Management is seeking a highly motivated, safety-conscious individual who enjoys working outdoors, assisting the public, providing excellent customer service, and performing various tasks at our convenience centers. The primary work site will be at McClellanville, Awendaw, with additional locations as needed.

Hiring Hourly Range: $15.00 - $16.96

Responsibilities include:

1. Operating hand tools and power equipment to maintain container sites;
2. Using pitch forks, rakes, and shovels for cleaning around waste and recycling containers;
3. Assisting with tarp removal from trucks and supporting roll-off drivers;
4. Maintaining cleanliness of convenience centers, containers, and trash barrels;
5. Proper handling and storage of household chemicals;
6. Assisting Charleston County residents as needed;
7. Performing general labor duties, including heavy lifting (up to 55 lbs), and maintaining tools and equipment;
8. Operating county vehicles and moving between sites as a floater;
9. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements include an 8th-grade education or equivalent training and experience, and a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
