Job Description: Environmental Management Worker

Charleston County Environmental Management is seeking a highly motivated, safety-conscious individual who enjoys outdoor work, assisting the public, providing excellent customer service, and performing various tasks at our convenience centers. The primary site will be at McClellanville, Awendaw, with additional locations as needed.

Hiring Hourly Range: $15.00 - $16.96

Responsibilities:

1. Operate hand tools and power equipment to maintain container sites.
2. Use pitch forks, rakes, and shovels to clean around waste and recycling containers.
3. Assist with tarp roll-offs and support roll-off drivers as needed.
4. Maintain cleanliness of convenience centers, containers, and empty trash barrels.
5. Handle and store household chemicals properly.
6. Assist Charleston County residents as required.
7. Maintain tools and equipment; perform general labor duties, including heavy lifting (up to 55 lbs).
8. Operate a county vehicle and move between sites as a floater.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8th-grade education or equivalent work experience demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
