Job summary

Northwest Cancer Centers in Northwest Indiana is seeking an entry-level switchboard operator for a full-time, on-site role. You will handle telephone duties, triage calls, relay messages, and assist with clerical tasks in a patient-facing environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with 0–3 years of experience; healthcare exposure is preferred. You will work with clinical staff while upholding compliance standards and delivering courteous service.

Qualifications

• Position is entry level with 0–3 years experience.
• Medical setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming calls and directs callers to the correct extension.
• Relays messages accurately and timely.
• Responds to emergency and urgent calls from patients and routes to staff.
• Triages calls, connects and transfers, and sets up conference calls.
• Provides a courteous and helpful phone contact for callers.
• Opens and closes the switchboard and manages paging.
• Performs clerical duties to maintain department workflow.
