Job summary

North Shore Medical Center is seeking a courteous and reliable switchboard operator to support hospital communications. This role handles incoming and outgoing calls, takes messages, and initiates paging through flash systems to ensure timely delivery.

You will follow emergency procedures, maintain composure under pressure, and assist with tasks on the board as assigned by your supervisor. Strong situational awareness and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate the switchboard in a kind and courteous way & in a timely manner.
• Take messages and deliver to proper place as quickly as possible
• Understand all emergency procedures including codes, Fire drills, Disaster Drill, Bomb Threats & Infant Abduction Drills.
• Must be able to retain composure in stressful situations
• To handle all in-coming & out going calls in a timely Manner.
• Know how to use the flash system & how to put out pages and digital and voice messages on Pagers
• Know all emergency Procedures & who to call.
• Know where to look for information
• Help at whatever task is assigned to you at the board.
• Take orders from your Supervisor and report to her any information for which she is responsible.
