Responsibilities

• Oversees pharmaceutical care and designs therapy regimens based on biomedical literature
• Counsels patients and caregivers on medication therapy, adverse effects, and adherence
• Reviews medication orders and prescriptions accurately
• Participates in medical emergencies when applicable
• Supports medication safety and quality improvement activities
• Manages formulary adherence and medication-use process with the healthcare team
• Assists in acquiring non-formulary, compassionate use, and investigational meds
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
• Prepares, dispenses, stores, and handles medications per best practices and regulations
• Serves as a preceptor and mentors pharmacy teammates, residents, and students
• Directs and checks accuracy of pharmacy support team work to ensure safety and efficiency
• Provides care appropriate to patient age, growth, and development stages
