Job summary

MercyOne Medical Center is seeking a Part-time Security Officer to maintain order, monitor premises and respond to safety concerns. The role supports nursing and staff by de-escalating tense situations and serving as a hospital ambassador while upholding HIPAA and safety polices.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and prior security or public safety experience is preferred. Valid driver’s license and MOAB/abuse training timely completion are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Experience in security or public safety preferred.
• Able to function well in emergencies.
• Must meet vehicle safety standards and be 18+.

Responsibilities

• Identify, report and document safety hazards per policy.
• Initiate investigations and coordinate with law enforcement as directed.
• Escort patients, visitors and staff as needed.
• Provide crowd and traffic control during events or emergencies.
• Assist with loading or escorting patients and valuables when required.
