Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a part-time Security Officer to support safety across its medical center campus. You will patrol facilities and grounds, assist patients and visitors, enforce parking rules, and document incidents with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, operating security systems, and coordinating with staff to de-escalate tense situations while maintaining a calm, service-oriented approach in all interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in criminal justice preferred.
• 2–4 years of related security experience if no degree.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
• Must read and write English; good communication skills.
• Must pass de-escalation training.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services in a professional and courteous manner.
• Protect Mercy Medical Center, its equipment and supplies from hazards.
• Patrol facilities and grounds on foot or by vehicle, deter theft and violence.
• Enforce MMC parking policy fairly and consistently.
• Inspect entrances, doors, gates, and windows; report irregularities.
• Record activities on daily reports and prepare incident reports.
• Assist patients and visitors with directions and information.
• Maintain and clean MMC fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to campus emergencies, including fire or threats to safety.
