Job summary

MercyOne Medical Center seeks a part-time Security Officer to help maintain safety and order within the hospital, respond to threats, and support staff in managing escalated patient and family situations.

You will de-escalate conflicts, assist with customer service needs as an ambassador for the clinic and hospital, and collaborate with local police and EMS as needed. A valid driver’s license and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED.
• At least one year of security experience preferred.
• English reading/writing/speaking required.
• Ability to handle emergencies.
• Diplomacy and courtesy under stress.
• Valid driver’s license and 18+.
• Must pass Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months.
• MOAB training within 6 months.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft products).

Responsibilities

• Identify and report safety hazards per policy.
• Investigate incidents and coordinate with law enforcement.
• Manage inventory of valuables and deposits.
• Maintain records of lost/found property.
• De-escalate potentially violent individuals.
• Escort individuals off campus when needed.
• Provide directions and escort to the public.
• Traffic control during helipad use.
• Assist with loading patients/bags into vehicles.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Ensure personal and patient safety.
• Complete shift reports and incident documentation.
