Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is hiring a part-time Security Officer to protect patients, staff, and visitors in a busy hospital environment. The role includes patrolling facilities, responding to incidents, and assisting with directions and safety protocols, 24/7 coverage with rotating shifts.

Required: high school diploma or equivalent, driving privileges and a good driving record; prior security experience is helpful, with an associate degree in criminal justice preferred. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Previous security-related experience helpful.
• 2–4 years related experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance; good driving record.
• Ability to operate computer software and security systems.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital facilities and grounds to deter theft, vandalism and violence.
• Assist patients and visitors with directions and information.
• Maintain order and safety; respond to security incidents and alarms.
• Inspect doors, windows, gates and equipment; report irregularities.
• Provide non-physical and physical-de-escalation support to patients and staff.
