Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is seeking a health unit coordinator to support patient care units in Amarillo. You will assist the RN with care plans, perform clerical duties, and help manage medical records to ensure smooth unit operation.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma (or equivalent), typing ability, and a Health Unit Coordinator pathway or related certification with current BLS. CNA/EMT/LVN or RN program enrollment options may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of typing test.
• Previous experience with medical terminology or Health Unit Coordinator course required.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
• HWC and Verbal De-escalation within 30 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
• Must possess one of the following: CNA Certificate or equivalent certificate; 2 years experience providing patient care; EMT Certification; Currently enrolled in LVN, ADN, or BSN School of Nursing with completion of Fundamentals; Medical Assistant Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN with implementation of an age-appropriate plan of care, based on patient condition and skills.
• Provides clerical support, performs unit-based medical records duties, and coordinates unit needs.
