Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time weekend days role in our Surgical/Oncology unit. The PCT supports nurses with basic patient care, helps with ADLs, and ensures safety and comfort for patients.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years in acute care or are enrolled in a nursing program and hold BCLS; CNA or CPCT certification is preferred. Training on PPE and infection control provided.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of acute care experience or currently enrolled in a Nursing program.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA certification or CPCT preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with basic patient care and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Record vital signs and patient data, reporting to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Support meals, bathing, grooming, linen changes and elimination needs.
• Aid mobility and positioning using walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
• Collect samples and perform glucose monitoring; document results.
• Communicate patient information effectively to the care team.
• Maintain infection control and PPE protocols.
• Participate in performance improvement and safety initiatives.
• Maintain regular attendance and reliability.
