Job summary

CHS Career Site in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Patient Care Technician for full-time weekend day shifts in surgical/oncology units. The role supports RN/LPN staff by assisted care and maintaining a safe patient environment.

You will collect vital signs, aid with activities of daily living, help with meals and mobility, and communicate patient information to the care team. CNA or CPCT preferred; BCLS within 90 days is required; acute care experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years in acute care or nursing program preferred
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices and equipment
• Strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with a team
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with basic patient care and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Record vital signs and input/output, report to RN/LPN/LVN
• Support meals, bathing, grooming, mobility and using aids
• Assist with positioning, ambulation and catheter care as needed
• Collect specimens and monitor glucose; document results
• Communicate patient information to the care team and maintain PPE adherence
• Participate in performance improvement and safety initiatives
• Maintain continuous observation if required and attend to assigned duties
