Job summary

Laredo Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision of RNs or LPNs. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring effective communication within the healthcare team.

The PCT will support patient care by performing delegated tasks, document vital signs, assist with meals and hygiene, and help with ambulation and mobility as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years in an acute care setting or enrolled in a nursing program.
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices and equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Collects and records vital signs and other patient data for RN/LPN review.
• Supports patients with meals, personal care, and mobility assistance.
• Aids with patient positioning and safe transfers using mobility aids.
• Collects samples and monitors glucose levels as directed.
• Communicates patient information effectively to the care team and adheres to safety protocols.
