Job summary

Laredo Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff with basic patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. Under supervision of RN/LPN, you will assist with activities of daily living, monitor patient conditions, and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with meals and mobility, collecting specimens, and communicating patient information to the care team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred.
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Records vital signs and patient data for RN/LPN review.
• Supports meals, bathing, grooming, linen changes, and mobility aids.
• Assist with patient positioning and mobility with walkers/canes.
• Collects urine/stool and performs finger-stick glucose testing.
• Communicates patient information clearly to the care team.
• Maintains infection control and uses PPE correctly.
• Participates in quality initiatives and safety goals.
• May provide continuous observation as required.
• Performs other duties and maintains attendance.
• Follows all policies and standards.
