Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Beto Unit to provide basic patient care, monitor vitals, assist with daily activities, and support nursing staff in a secure environment.

Candidates must complete an approved nursing assistant, medical assistant, EMT, or related program, or have two years in direct patient care, and hold BLS. Day shift; salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with one of the listed programs or relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Must meet one of the listed education/experience options to qualify.
• OTC/POCT and patient data collection are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report, and document data such as vitals, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquire 12-lead EKG.
• Perform POCT and report results timely.
• Assist with patient activities and safety per plan of care.
• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with feeding.
• Ambulate, position, and turn patients; assist with mobility.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure infection control and aseptic technique in care areas.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain supplies.
