Job summary

UTMB Health invites applications for a Patient Care Technician I (PCT I) in the Medicine/Nephrology unit (Nights). The role provides basic technical assistance and supportive patient care under supervision, including vital signs, specimen collection, venipuncture, and 12-lead EKGs.

Candidates must have completed a Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or UTMB Hospital Aide program, or have two years of direct patient care experience, or hold a relevant MA/PCT/CNA certification; BLS is

Qualifications

• Completion of one of the listed programs OR two years of direct patient care experience OR certified MA/PCT/CNA at time of hire OR enrolled in a recognized School of Nursing with first semester completed including clinical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents data: Vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collects specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12 lead EKG.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse.
