Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX seeks a Patient Care Technician I to provide essential daily patient support in Medicine/Family Medicine.

The role includes collecting vital data, performing venipuncture, EKGs, POCT, and assisting with activities of daily living while protecting patient privacy and safety in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The PCT I collaborates with nursing staff, adheres to infection control measures, and contributes to a safe, clean care environment across assigned areas.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing/medical program or relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Eligible for hire as MA/PCT/CNA or enrolled in nursing program with clinical coursework.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12 lead EKG.
• Performs and reports POCT.
• Assists with patient activities per the plan of care.
• Provides for patients’ personal hygiene and wound care; assists with elimination and catheter care.
• Assists with feeding and mobility; ensures patient safety and proper isolation when needed.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information.
