Job summary

Knoxville Hospital and Clinics in Knoxville, IA, is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk for a full-time day shift (7am-7pm; every third weekend 6am-6pm). You will support the nursing team, handle clerical tasks, and help maintain a calm, safe patient environment.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, a 75-hour nurse aide course, current BCLS, and prior patient care and clerical experience, with strong customer service skills and the ability to follow directions from supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of at least a 75-hour nurse aide course on hire.
• Prior patient care, telephone, clerical and computer experience required.
• Current BCLS certification and ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Mandatory Reporter certification or ability to acquire within 3 months.
• Demonstrates empathy and kindness toward patients and visitors.
• Able to accept directions from nursing supervisors.
• Friendly attitude and excellent customer service.
• Complete annual competency training and maintain licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls promptly and route calls appropriately.
• Maintain calm, professional demeanor with patients and visitors.
• Assist patients with ADLs.
• Perform nursing and non-nursing tasks as directed.
• Identify and communicate potential issues to the team.
• Work cooperatively with health care staff to achieve patient goals.
• Demonstrate Ward Clerk responsibilities and procedures.
• Provide nutritional and hydration support and assist with personal hygiene/elimination.
• Follow infection control standards and maintain required training.
