Job summary

Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support the nursing team and assist patients with ADLs while maintaining a calm, professional environment.

The role requires CNA training (75-hour) and current BCLS, with prior patient care, clerical and computer experience. Expectations include direct patient assistance, proper call handling, and adherence to infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Certification from at least a 75-hour nurse aide course and passed CNA testing upon hire.
• Previous patient care experience, telephone, clerical and computer experience required.
• Current BCLS certification, must be able to read, write and follow written or oral instructions.
• Must display a high degree of empathetic understanding and kindness towards patients and visitors.
• Must be able to accept direction from nursing supervisors.
• Must possess friendly attitude and excellent customer service.
• Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answers telephone calls and routes call appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Provide nursing and non-nursing tasks as directed, under supervision.
• Assists nurses with treatments and procedures as directed, in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains patient belongings and personal property.
• Maintains infection control standards and competencies.
• Attends required unit meetings and in-services or reads minutes.
