PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and regulations. Responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

• Drive FMS culture through values and customer service standards.
• Provide outstanding service to all customers.
• Develop effective relationships through communication.
• Respond promptly to customer issues.

Principal Responsibilities And Duties

PATIENT CARE:

• Assist in patient education regarding dialysis adequacy and disease management.
• Welcome patients, monitor well-being, and report concerns.
• Evaluate vascular access, obtain vital signs, and perform cannulation, reporting issues.
• Administer Heparin as permitted, initiate and monitor dialysis, and document all procedures.
• Assess patient response, manage treatment, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Complete treatment documentation accurately.

MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL:

• Maintain environment and equipment hygiene.
• Prepare machines, perform safety checks, and respond to alarms.

CLERICAL & ADMINISTRATIVE:

• Participate in CQI activities, document treatment data, and prepare charts and specimens.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Additional for Home Program Technicians:

• Assist RN with home visits, patient education, and supply management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Includes travel, patient handling, and exposure to health risks. Reasonable accommodations available.

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or G.E.D., with required certification and licensure.

Experience and Skills:

• Preferred prior patient care experience; comprehensive training provided.

Part-time, 20 hours/week after training. No dialysis experience required; training provided.
