Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the 3 West Ortho/Trauma unit in Virginia Beach. This full-time position features rotating shifts, including roughly 7pm–7am and 7am–7pm, and supports admissions, discharges, and direct patient care under a registered nurse.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS within 90 days, and certification or enrollment in a CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related program. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• One of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, or EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic training, or enrolled in a clinical program with at least one RN/LPN/RT/PT semester completed.
• Current or recent healthcare experience in last 3 years as PCT or Nursing Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Adhere to patient safety practices and monitor patient condition, reporting changes to the nurse.

Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds. Our patient population includes admissions from the Ortho Joint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho/Trauma centers, as well as medical/surgical patients.Location is a mere 10 minutes from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront!
