Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 3 East IMC Unit in Virginia Beach, VA. The role supports ED/IMC patients with daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, and specimen collection.

Candidates should have HS diploma and are encouraged to pursue CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent programs; AHA BLS required within 90 days of hire. Multiple shift options available including days, nights, full-time and part-time.

Qualifications

• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support daily living activities and mobility.
• Monitor vital signs, assist with EKG testing, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and catheter care.
• Observe patient conditions and report changes to RN and medical staff.

As part of a Level III Trauma Center and a Magnet recognized hospital, our unit offers an exceptional environment for both experienced healthcare professionals and those at the start of their careers. Patient Care Technicians (PCT) can expect a ratio of 1:12, with all team members playing a pivotal, respected role in patient care. The unit is guided by an ACE award-winning leadership team, well known for fostering growth, teamwork, and professional development.The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
