Job summary

Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA is seeking a FT patient care technician to support nursing staff and ensure safe patient care. Under RN supervision, you will assist with standard unit operations and basic patient care tasks.

Duties include bathing, dressing, feeding patients, taking vital signs, phlebotomy and EKGs. Required are a high school diploma, BLS, and appropriate licensure or enrollment in the RN/PCT program; hospital certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Stroke/Orthopedic certification requirements per hospital standards.
• Active Virginia CNA license or RN program enrollment or Augusta Health PCT program upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care.

• Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, performs various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure efficient unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures.
• Includes bathing, dressing and feeding of patients, performing vital signs, phlebotomy and Ekg's.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine).
• Active Virginia State Board of Nursing CNA license OR Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and have completed the first semester of clinical rotations OR Enrollment in and successful completion of Augusta Health’s in-house Patient Care Tech (PCT) program upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - BLS
