Overview

Sentara Careplex is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Med Surge Unit. The position is full-time (36 scheduled weekly hours) and requires a night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The location is Suffolk, VA. This is a third shift (night) role.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support the admissions and discharge process.
• Comply with patient safety practices under the direction of a professional nurse.
• Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing team.

Qualifications

• HS – High School graduate or equivalent.
• One of the following acceptable educational programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), or current student enrolled in a clinical program with at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, PT or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
• One year of health‑care experience preferred.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
