Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Full-Time Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg unit (7A-7P). The role includes patient care, ADL support, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter management under RN supervision.

Requirements include a HS Diploma or equivalent and BLS within 90 days of hire; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related programs are acceptable.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire (Required).
• One of: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or clinical student in RN/LPN/RT/PT with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor and document vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed and collect specimens.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and safety protocols.

Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.EducationHS Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Certification/LicensureBasic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.
