Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Full-Time Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg unit (7A-7P). The role involves patient care, vital signs monitoring, mobility assistance, phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, and Foley catheter procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Required HS diploma or equivalent and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. One year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.
• One of the listed programs (Care Partner, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or clinical student experience) accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient condition.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKGs as directed.
• Collect specimens and assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal.
• Maintain safety and report changes to RN or medical staff.

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Patient Care Technician on our Med/Surg unit. 7A-7P

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Education HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. (Required) One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Experience One year previous healthcare experience (Preferred)

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
