Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Ortho/ Med Surg Unit 1 East. This full-time, dayshift role runs 6a–6p with every 3rd weekend. You will provide care under a nurse's supervision, assist with admissions/discharges, and support patient safety throughout shifts.

The unit handles orthopedic and med/surg patients, many after joint replacements, spine, or hand surgeries. Training is provided, and a supportive team environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• One of the following certifications or programs valid on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes and ensure patient safety.

The majority of our patients have had joint replacements, spine surgery or hand surgery. The ortho techs on the unit will also be assisting with the mobility of the patients. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
