Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician III to support nursing teams in high-acuity units. You will provide direct patient care, assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, perform phlebotomy where trained, and help with treatments under supervision.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate patient support. Qualified applicants have a high school education or GED, BLS certification, and inpatient/outpatient care experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Demonstrated competency attainment in the PCT III level.
• Prior inpatient/outpatient care experience or clinical care training.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information and build relationships for collaborative work.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under licensed supervision, meeting personal needs and comfort.
• Observe and report patient condition changes to the RN.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Help with daily living activities and mobility for patients.
• Perform vital signs, basic clinical tasks, and specimen collection as directed.
• Support treatments and procedures, prepare equipment and supplies.
• Follow unit policies, attend meetings, and maintain professional standards.
