Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct care unit coordination. You will support the RN in caring for acutely ill patients, perform basic nursing procedures, and help with admissions, discharges, and transfers, while documenting care in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience as PCA/PCT/NA/LPN/EMT or related military medical roles is beneficial.
• 1 year in acute or long-term care or enrollment in an nursing program.
• Basic computer skills; proficiency in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vital signs, etc.).
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers and coordinates unit activities.
• Contributes to quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintains clean, safe environment.
