Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing support role focused on direct patient care for patients in stable condition and coordination on the inpatient unit. The incumbent assists the RN in caring for acutely ill patients, adheres to aseptic technique, and supports unit operations and patient safety.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, willingness to complete two weeks of training, and enrollment in ASN/BSN programs; acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred Acute care experience within the last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program.
• Preference given to those enrolled in Associates or Bachelor’s degree Nursing programs with at least one clinical rotation completed.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care including vital signs, ambulation, feeding, and specimen collection.
• Records intake/output and measurements like weights and glucose.
• Supports quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including bedside reports and hourly rounds.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, transfers and unit coordination.
• Maintains patient environment and follows hospital policies; communicates changes to staff.
