Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is hiring a Patient Care Technician I for the evening shift. This non-exempt position supports licensed clinicians, provides essential patient care, and helps with daily living activities, safety, and data collection.

The role requires a high school diploma, Basic Life Support, and 6+ months of direct patient care experience. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to respectful, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• English communication skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely communication to RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in creating a safe environment and use de-escalation techniques as directed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and nourishment.
• Help move, lift, position, and transport patients with proper safety techniques.
• Perform patient safety checks and use fall prevention strategies as directed.
• Record vital signs and measurements (temp, pulse, resp, BP, SpO2).
• Perform EKGs, Point of Care tests, and specimen handling per hospital standards.
• Assist with treatments and procedures under supervision.
