Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct care to patients in a stable condition and assist the RN in caring for acutely ill patients. The role includes performing basic nursing procedures, documentation in the electronic medical record, and maintaining patient privacy and safety.

The incumbent will work under supervision and coordinate unit activities, admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 weeks of training required for new hires.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preference given to acute care experience within the last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program; preference for those with clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care and activities of daily living.
• Assist with nursing procedures and monitor vital signs.
• Document observations and report changes to nursing staff.
• Participate in unit activities such as admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Maintain healthcare environment and uphold patient privacy and safety.
