Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Float Pool at Fairfield Hospital. You will assist with basic patient care, monitor vitals, and support patients with daily activities under RN guidance.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient interaction, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the care team in a fast-paced environment. BLS and nursing aide prerequisites are preferred; prior acute care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support preferred at hire; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR STNA/ CNA OR Nurses Aide state testing or equivalent clinical rotation
• 1 year of relevant clinical experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Serve as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely as required.
• Assist with hand-off and information transfer on arrival and departure.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Use therapeutic transfer techniques to mobilize patients safely.
• Encourage patient independence and tailor care to individual preferences
