Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO is seeking a Float Pool Patient Care Tech. This 36-hour-per-week daytime role involves assisting with individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN and performing designated clinical procedures and support tasks.

The unit offers float opportunities across ED, ICU, TCU, PCU, and other Med-Surg areas. Required include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS within one month, and completion of PCT competencies within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program.
• Experience: 175-hour Mercy training if no prior experience; must complete within 90 days.
• Certifications: BLS within 1 month; PCT competencies within 3 months.
• Other: Physical requirements (lift 50 lbs, stand/walk).
• Preferred: EMT, Paramedic; CNA/EMT/AUA/CPCT certifications.

Float Pool gives the opportunity to develop clinical assessment skills as well as sharpen skills in communication and teamwork. Health care workers who are compassionate, hard-working, and flexible will find working on this unit very rewarding!

Units you may float to based on experience:

ED, ICU, TCU, PCU, all Med-Surg units, and Acute Rehab.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.


• Experience: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCT position per state guidelines.


• Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.


• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.


• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or Previous Patient Care Experience.- Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
