Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Fairfield Hospital Acute Care Rehab unit. The role supports Registered Nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily activities in a clinical setting.

Under supervision, the PCT will maintain patient comfort, ensure cleanliness of rooms, and contribute to a collaborative care team. BLS certification is preferred and must be obtained if not already current, with further training in EPIC EHR

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and promptly in the EHR where applicable.
• Participates in hand-offs and reports for patient and departmental needs on admission and discharge.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Mobilizes patients using safe, therapeutic transfer techniques.
• Encourages patient independence in daily tasks.
• Tailors care to individual patient needs and interests.
