Job summary

Temple Health – Temple University Health System is seeking staff to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes initiating and completing basic care procedures, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities to ensure patient comfort and safety.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of Nursing Aide/Medical Assistant training or EMT program, with Basic Life Support recommended.

Qualifications

• Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation, EMT training, or Nursing student with Nursing 101 completed is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse.
• Performs basic procedures related to vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, and glucose testing.
• Assists with activities of daily living, nutrition and hydration, safety and emergency measures, and patient comfort.
• Performs Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties as assigned.

Job description

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, capillary blood glucose testing, and Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Other Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation Required

Experience

• 1 year experience in a related patient care role Preferred

Licenses

• Basic Life Support Required
