Job summary

Temple Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department, days, 40 hours per week. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, vital signs, ECGs, IV placement, and support across unit operations. High school diploma and relevant training required.

Experience in patient care is preferred; Basic Life Support and related competencies are essential. Eligible candidates will work every-other weekend and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurses Aide/Medical Assistant/EMT training or nursing student clinical rotation required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of the RN.
• Implement components of the plan of care through procedures related to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; nutrition and fluids; elimination.
• Measure vital signs, perform ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, capillary blood glucose testing, and assist with Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.

This position is full-time 40 hours per week Days Flex 7a-3:30p with every-other weekend and holidays as required at Temple University Hospital.

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, capillary blood glucose testing, and Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Other Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation Required

Experience

• 1 year experience in a related patient care role Preferred
