Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Petoskey, MI is seeking a Patient Care Assistant in the Emergency Services department. Under the supervision of a Nurse, you will perform day-to-day patient care activities and help maintain an environment that supports patient well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment and protects patients and staff by following infection-control and waste policies.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent .
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Certification must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.

Preferred

• Prior experience in direct care preferred.
• CENA training
• Prior experience obtained through clinical nursing rotation relevant to the specific work area.
