Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide nursing staff support across patient care, clerical duties, and unit organization. The role emphasizes timely patient response, data collection, and collaboration with RNs to implement plans of care and ensure safety and cleanliness on the unit.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma, CNA certification, BLS, and LA City Fire Life Safety Training or be willing to obtain within the stated timeframe.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pref 1 year experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH) is required.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire (LA City only).

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient call within 10 minutes.
• Provide data related to patient assessment to RN.
• Assist with patient care plans and implement interventions.
• Perform essential patient-care skills (vital signs, I&O, daily weights).
• Maintain clean, organized patient rooms and assist with meals and ambulation.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and reporting of changes to RN/Charge Nurse.
• Document all care provided, including vitals, intake/output, and equipment used.
