Job summary

Highmark Health in Pittsburgh area is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a stable-condition unit. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, ability to read/write and follow instructions, basic math and computer skills, and willingness to attend a 2-week training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Limited or no experience: Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtain s or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, point of care testing, bladder scanning, transporting of patients and their medical record, documentation in EMR.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report and hourly rounding to promote safety and cleanliness.
• Documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
