Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care, assist with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes. The role reports to the RN and emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered service in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will hold current BLS certification, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be able to manage a high workload while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the patient’s age.
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and read basic math.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living and mobility assistance.
• Support the bedside RN by monitoring patients and reporting changes.
• Assist with meals, baths, and linen changes.
• Maintain clean, safe patient surroundings and infection control.
