Job summary

AtlantiCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support direct and indirect patient care under licensed supervision. The role includes helping with personal care, contributing to the plan of care, and communicating observations to the Clinical Associate.

The technician may perform Limited Laboratory Services, collect specimens, monitor quality control, and report results while maintaining patient confidentiality and teamwork in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within 1 year of hire or transfer into the role, or until 10/31/25 for existing employees.
• English speaking and writing ability required; bilingual preferred.
• At least 8 weeks of Patient Care education or direct patient care experience required; or enrolled in a nursing school or physician assistant program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems and use good judgment in difficult situations.
• Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; skill required within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct and indirect patient care under supervision of licensed personnel.
• Assist patients with personal care needs and participate in the plan of care.
• Communicate observations and data collection to the Clinical Associate.
• Collect test specimens as directed and document activities.
• Possibly perform Limited Laboratory Services including specimen preparation, processing, QC, instrument checks, reporting results and maintaining competency.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect in interactions with customers and team members.
