Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, age-appropriate care under RN or licensed practitioner supervision. You will support patients with daily activities, monitor conditions, and communicate with the health care team to ensure safe, quality care.

The role emphasizes adhering to nursing plans of care, maintaining a safe environment, and participating in mandatory trainings. Prior CNA/healthcare exposure is preferred and BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Licensure/Certification Required: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
• Minimum Qualifications: Certification/Completion of one of the listed nursing assistant, medical assistant, EMT, nursing aide programs or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit, with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients' conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Care for patients in accordance with plans of care and hospital policies.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment to support patient needs and team functioning.
• Record patient information (vital signs, intake/output, etc.) and report changes to RNs or MDs.
