Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the nursing team in delivering patient-centered care. Under supervision of a licensed nurse, you will perform tasks and support functions essential to safe and effective care, ensuring clear communication during handoffs and throughout shifts.

You will document care in real time, maintain patient privacy, and assist in triage during emergencies while prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and dignity.

Qualifications

• Customer service and communication skills required.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Experience supporting nursing staff and patient care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients, families and co-workers at handoffs and other times.
• Ensure necessary information is shared for safe patient outcomes.
• Provide safe, effective patient care under supervision of licensed nurse.
• Observe changes in patient condition and report promptly to nurse.
• Document patient care accurately and in real time.
• Maintain patient privacy and protect confidential information.
• Assist with emergencies within scope of practice.
• Organize daily work considering patient and family needs.
• Keep patient rooms and department areas clean and organized.
• Identify quality improvement opportunities and support practice changes.
